Kick Start Mech on PX

Long time no chats - been maxed out at work and college. 

Daily rides Kick start mech (on PX) is now useless, it doesn't appear to be engaging thus not  starting.  I can get the scoot going by either bumping or eventually with a car battery(reminder to self - must get new battery!).  Any ideas as to probable cause and will this mean I need to strip the engine to repair (could be a bit out of my depth but needs must!)

It could be the clutch slipping or jamed on if you get me

To change the clutch is not a big job but you will need a tool to get it out

If you still have my number give me a ring and i can talk you throw it
